Don’t Let Your Fitness Journey Slip Away
When I arrived early at the local Y to teach a class I saw and spoke to the new Executive Director, She was recently promoted from Assistant Executive Director at my home Y branch. It was good to see her and I complemented her on how nice she looked in her beautiful dress. As Assistant Executive Director she primarily wore workout attire so it was a different look.
She thanked me and confessed she had not worked out regularly in two years. Now that she is in a new leadership role, she said her body was feeling it.
“I’m so busy. I just can’t find time to exercise even though I work at the Y”, she said.
Ouch, I felt her pain!
I know firsthand that life happens. It’s very easy to go from being healthy and fit to not feeling healthy and fit.
That was my story too.
I encouraged her to try to find 15 minutes at least one day a week to consciously engage in some type of movement. I shared that building a healthy lifestyle is about self-care and it takes one step at a time.
